Surplus & Zero Waste
Surplus & Zero Waste at Hampton Inspired Hub helps support local people through affordable food access, recycling initiatives, sustainable community projects, and shared resources designed to reduce waste and strengthen community connection in Hampton and the surrounding areas.
We are all about aiding our great local communities to share skills and resources to improve opportunities and everyday life.
Reducing Waste, Supporting Community
Our Surplus & Zero Waste projects are designed to make useful food, clothing, and household items more accessible while helping reduce unnecessary waste. Through community donations, local partnerships, and shared resources, we aim to support people in practical and meaningful ways.
Food Surplus & Community Support
We’re lucky to partner with Surplus To Supper, a Sunbury-based organisation that rescues food and other items removed from shelves too early to make room for new deliveries. Local supermarkets join us in helping reduce waste and support local families.
You’ll often find fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, fish, ready meals, bread, cakes, and household essentials available during selected community sessions and surplus mornings.
Many of these initiatives also support our wider community support and wellbeing projects.
Zero Waste Corner
For a suggested donation, visitors can browse surplus items, clothing, books, toys, household goods, and community donations. Every contribution helps support future community activities and local wellbeing initiatives.
Visitors are encouraged to bring reusable bags and help support more sustainable community habits.
Sensory Garden & Shared Resources
Our commitment to sustainability continues throughout the Hub grounds. Visitors can enjoy our sensory garden spaces and community growing areas, which help encourage wellbeing, relaxation, and shared learning.
We also encourage the sharing of plants, herbs, cuttings, and gardening ideas through our wider community initiatives.
Community Essentials Support
We understand that many people experience difficult periods in life. Community essentials, toiletries, sanitary products, and practical support items are sometimes made available for individuals and families who may be struggling.
